Residents say suspected Boko Haram fighters killed at least 34 in attacks on villages near Chibok and Konduga in Nigeria's north-eastern Borno state earlier this week.

Aisami Bashir, a member of a local civilian protection militia, said the gunmen attacked the Tamsu-Shehuri village on Wednesday night where they killed at least 12 residents.

A day later gunmen hit a nearby village, Ladi-Shehuri, where they killed a man before soldiers from Konduga responded and killed about 12 attackers.

Local government official Suleiman Ali told journalists in Maiduguri that 21 people were killed on Thursday by suspected Boko Haram fighters who attacked villages near Chibok, the town where in April last year Boko Haram kidnapped more than 200 schoolgirls who are still missing.
