Victoria's Secret's model Adriana Lima makes 13 her lucky number
The number 13 may be unlucky for some but for Adriana Lima November 13, 2013 marked her 13th appearance in the Victoria's Secret show and her 13th year as an Angel, making her the longest-running in history
Sure, Adriana's latest accomplishment isn't exactly ground breaking, but it is pretty impressive.
Last night's Victoria's Secret show marked her 13th time walking in the annual spectacular - she first appeared in 1999, and has been in every show since except for 2008, when she was pregnant with her first child. Serendipitously, the date was November 13, 2013.
She was signed up as an Angel (an official spokesmodel) in 2000 - a life time ago in fashion years - meaning the dawn of 2013 also signalled 13 years of her sporting the famous wings. To put it in perspective, Lima has out-Angeled Gisele Bundchen, who joined with her in 2000 but bowed out in 2007, and has seven more years on her CV than Miranda Kerr, whose contract was brought to an end earlier this year after six years.
Her long reign has meant she's seen one phase of supermodels go and another arrive; when she began, Victoria's Secret was all about Karen Mulder, Stephanie Seymour and Heidi Klum, the original Nineties supermodels. Then, around 2005, came the era of the new Supers; Candice Swanepoel, Alessandra Ambrosio, Lily Aldridge and friends.
The only person to match her number of show appearances is fellow Brazilian beauty Alessandra Ambrosio, also 32. But though she started working with the lingerie giant in 2000, she wasn't anointed an Angel until 2004.
Lima's lengthy tenure has also been lucrative - as the longest-running Angel she's also the highest paid. Forbes estimate that she raked in $6 million dollars last year, the majority of which came from VS.
She married Serbian basketball player Marko Jaric in 2009, and has since spoken publicly of her decision to remain a virgin until they wed. Together they have two daughters, Valentina, born 2009, and Sienna, born 2012 - she famously walked in last year's show just eight weeks after giving birth to Sienna
