Maleficent gets a MAC makeup line
Disney has already signed up the Hollywood superstar and now it's also signed up make-up superstar MAC Cosmetics to collaborate on a beauty range for its up-and-coming film, Maleficent.
Starring Angelina Jolie, as the evil antagonist Maleficent, Walt Disney's new Sleeping Beauty movie is getting its own 11 piece make-up collection from MAC according to WWD . And the collection of face, eye, lip and nail colours is going to be dark, but cool.
Before you imagine those graphic purple witch eyes as seen on the cartoon character which we love to hate from the 1959 animation film by Disney, read what Rick Baker, special effects make-up artist who worked on Jolie's make-up for the film, told www.geekexchange.com . "There are things that you can do in a drawing that you can't necessarily do in the real world in a movie and this is a really kind of different take on Maleficent too. They [Disney] didn't particularly want that," Baker explained.
"I actually would have loved to have duplicated the Maleficent that we all know and love. But also when you have Angelina Jolie you don't really wanna cover up that much or do that much. Frankly, I said I don't think we should do too much of anything to her except for the horns. Angie had some very specific ideas that she wanted and my job was to try and interpret her ideas and put my aesthetic into it and make it work," Baker added.
While we've yet to see the collection, which won't be released until next spring alongside the film, what we're expecting is dark red lips, liner and a lot of contour and powder. But what we defiintely know, thanks to Baker, is that it's chic: "the make-up that we did I think is cool," he says.
