Lea Michele's message about late fiancé is most retweeted of 2013

Glee star Lea Michele's first heartbreaking tweet after learning of her fiancé Cory Monteith's death is the most retweeted tweet of 2013.

Cory died earlier this year following a drug overdose. Lea tweeted 'Thank you all for helping me through this time with your enormous love & support. Cory will forever be in my heart.' along with a picture of herself and Monteith, who starred alongside her in Glee.

That tweet received close to 400,000 retweets and favourites from grieving 'gleeks'.

According to Twitter's Blog, this tweet was followed closely by Paul Walker's staff posting about his recent death. 'It's with a heavy heart that we must confirm Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident... #TeamPW,' they wrote.

Ireland's own Niall Horan had the third most retweeted tweet of the year, showing his delighted at reaching his twenties. 'Yesss ! I'm 20 ! Wohooo ! No more teens!' the One Direction singer tweeted. His fans clearly approved, as the tweet, sent in September, has over 360,000 retweets.

The most popular tweet ever is from Barrack Obama. After winning last year's presidential election, the message 'four more years' along with picture of Obama hugging Michelle Obama. It has been retweeted more than 785,000 times.
