J-Law opens up about anxiety battle
Jennifer Lawrence’s childhood nickname was “Nitro” because she took medication for social anxiety.
The Oscar-winning actress has recalled the struggles she went through during her younger years. While Jennifer may seem confident and relaxed now, it didn’t always come naturally.
“My nickname was ‘Nitro’ as in nitroglycerin. I was hyperactive, curious about everything,” she told French magazine Madame Figaro. “When my mother told me about my childhood, she always told me there was like a light in me, a spark that inspired me constantly. When I entered the school, the light went out. We never knew what it was, a kind of social anxiety. But I had friends.”
Jennifer has spoken several times about how her life has changed since she landed the lead role in The Hunger Games franchise. The 23-year-old actress hasn’t always enjoyed living in the spotlight and the pressures that come with fame.
“I want my life to be as normal as possible. One of the dangers in the film industry is that things are too fast. I do not want to burn the stages of my life,” she explained. “I want to keep it simple, you see, I do not have an assistant. Someone that helps me is my best friend. At the end of a day of shooting, I can go home and hang out with her, do what we do for 22 years… and not share time with someone who works for me.”
Jennifer is currently travelling all over the world promoting the second instalment of The Hunger Games franchise, Catching Fire. She has been rocking a new pixie crop haircut and on Friday she flaunted her stunning figure in a sheer Christian Dior Couture gown for the Paris premiere of the film.
