Teen fans swamp RTE for a glimpse of One Direction
THOUSANDS of teenage girls descended upon RTE to get a glimpse of One Direction as they arrived for their interview with 'Late Late Show' host Ryan Tubridy.
Fans of the boyband arrived at the national broadcaster in Dublin as early as lunchtime in order to get a good view of the heartthrobs when they turned up at 9pm for their appearance on the show.
Mullingar-born Niall Horan and his band mates Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik decided not to perform on the RTE show, instead taking to the couch with Tubridy for a live chat.
They spent yesterday afternoon at TV3's new studio, where they were also interviewed by 'Xpose' presenter Karen Koster for a special programme about their success which is to be aired next week.
Despite having a number of interviews lined up, the famous group kept their short visit relatively quiet this week.
They flew over to Ireland on Thursday and were whisked through a private exit to travel to the Fitzwilliam Hotel.
They then kicked off their first night in town by unwinding at two local night spots, the Grafton Lounge and Lillie's Bordello.
A source told the Irish Independent that the 'Up All Night' singers arrived to the Grafton Lounge accompanied by six bodyguards and spent a few hours mingling and dancing with the crowd.
"They came under tight security but didn't want to be put in a closed off area by themselves at all. They had a couple of drinks and chatted to everyone."
