Aaron Paul has revealed he would like to reprise his role as Jesse Pinkman in the Breaking Bad spin-off prequel, Better Call Saul.

The 34-year-old, who played the drug addict-turned-dealer in the hit US series, would have no hesitations about returning to the character that turned him into a star and is in talks for a recurring role for several episodes.

"If Better Call Saul decided that they wanted me to be a part of it, big or small, I would be there in a heartbeat," he said.

"(The show's creator) Vince Gilligan gave me my career, so yeah. And it'd be fun to play Jesse in his lighter, happier days."

Better Call Saul, which is set to premiere on US screens in November, will centre on scheming lawyer Saul Goodman, played by Bob Odenkirk. Jonathan Banks will reprise his role as Mike Ehrmantraut, a former cop turned hitman.

Vince previously told The Wrap: "As you can imagine with Saul Goodman as a character, a show like that would have to have plenty of humour to it. But also because he works for some pretty scary clientele sometimes, there'd be a bit of drama in it as well."

Aaron, who is heading for the big screen in Need For Speed, revealed he is still close to his former Breaking Bad co-star Bryan Cranston, who played Jesse's science teacher Walter White.

"We've moved on and gone our separate ways. But Bryan and I still talk all the time," he said.

"We try to talk on a weekly basis. I love the man so much. He's one of my best friends and an absolute mentor of mine. I wouldn't be the actor I was if it wasn't for him."

:: Need For Speed opens in cinemas on March 12.
