IT is the end of a love story which was seen by millions.

Audiences were smitten by the Oscar-winning couple who performed together at the Academy Awards in 2008.

But singer Glen Hansard yesterday wished former lover Marketa Irglova well after she revealed she got married.

"Wanted to share with (you) I am a married woman now. I got married to the most beautiful man I ever met. I am so very blessed," Marketa (23) said on Twitter while visiting family in the Czech Republic.

Hansard (41) then retweeted that message, adding simply "Congratulations Marketa!!! Happy marriage!!!"

It is understood Marketa's husband is American studio engineer Tim Iseler who has co-produced her first solo album release, 'Anar'.

However, she will forever be linked with Hansard after their Oscar win. The Frames frontman and the daughter of a Czech concert promoter began dating on the set of 2006's low-budget Irish movie 'Once'.

The tale of two Dublin buskers struck a chord with film audiences around the world. It was a journey which led to the stage of the 2008 Academy Awards where they performed Oscar-winning song 'Falling Slowly'.

But it was a love story without a happy ending, as in January 2009, after three years touring with group The Swell Season, the couple announced they had split. "We broke up because neither of us were really enjoying it," Hansard said later.

"What happened to us, is we were pals first and foremost. Then we became lovers and that period of our life was amazing, but we graduated to being pals again."

A bird's-eye view of the relationship breaking down is offered in new documentary 'The Swell Season', which was critically acclaimed at this year's Tribeca Film Festival.
