ONE Direction star Niall Horan says his homesickness has eased – thanks to his mother moving to London to take care of him.

The Mullingar teenager – who has an incredible eight million followers on twitter – said he has been homesick since shooting to fame on the 'X Factor'. But he is delighted that his mother, Maura, has moved to London in order to be close to him.

He said: "I don't get to go home as much as I used to which is a shame.

"But I don't mind so much because my mother recently moved over."

The 19-year-old also said he wished he had kissed US 'X Factor' star Demi Lovato when they went out for dinner after the Video Music Awards in Los Angeles a few months ago .

Horan, who has just played in Madison Square Garden with his band, said he hooked up with the Disney princess through Twitter.

He said: "I always used to say that I liked her in interviews and she said she liked me. Then we got in contact through Twitter and became friends."

But he said they still have a platonic relationship, despite wishing he had kissed her on their date in September.

He told 'Teen Now' magazine: "I wish. Nothing ever really happened. When I'm in LA I've seen her a couple of times. We did go for dinner and it all ended up on Twitter."
