Corrie's North star: calm the jets over the flag

There are more road blocks

around the North as loyalist protesters continue to get in a flap over restrictions on the flying of the Union Flag at Belfast City Hall.

However, sanity may prevail following the intervention of a major international figure.

Charlie Lawson, the actor best known for playing Jim McDonald in Coronation Street, wants the protests to cease because, well, they're embarrassing him.

Enniskillen-born Lawson now runs a farm shop in Cheshire with celebrity customers like Wayne Rooney and Frank Skinner. "I have to try to defend the six counties of Northern Ireland," he said.

True loyalists have to end the disruption immediately. If not for God and Ulster, they must do it for Jim McDonald.
