Cardinal Burns got Banksy blessing
Cardinal Burns have said they got Banksy's blessing for parodying him in their sketch show.
Seb Cardinal and Dustin Demri-Burns feature a sketch about notoriously private graffiti artist Banksy in their comedy show but said the man himself had not been offended by the joke.
Dustin said: "He contacted us on the first series, giving us his blessing when we did the pilot."
Seb explained: "We wanted to use some of his art, so we contacted him and he was fine about it. Then he kind of went off radar. I think he was like, 'Oh... it's a whole series of me and my family depicted.' Because he is actually like that, he's got a wife called Jill."
Dustin added: "He does apparently shop at B&Q rather than Homebase though, we got that wrong, that fact. He let us know that. He was very keen for us to know that... We might leave him alone now."
The comedy duo also said that they had been pleased that their show was still being discovered by new fans even as the second series approaches.
Dustin said: "It was a slightly slow burner in that it's still being discovered. People are still going, 'Why have I never seen this before?' which is nice, actually.
"It was repeated on Channel 4 not long ago so it found a new audience and it feels ready for the new one to come out now."
Series two of Cardinal Burns airs from April 30 on Channel 4 at 10.30pm.
