Bono sings praises of 'beautifully wrinkled' frontman
THEY say you get better looking with age – and Bono has praised veteran rocker Mick Jagger for his "beautiful" wrinkles.
Jagger is celebrating his 70th birthday today and, according to the U2 frontman, the Rolling Stone member has never looked better.
Bono may be considered a rock veteran but at 53, he is very much Jagger's junior.
Bono admitted he's in awe of his older comrade and likened Jagger's appearance to that of a Russian ballet dancer.
"Mick looks a bit like (Mikhail) Baryshnikov, like a ballet dancer from a different age," Bono, whose real name is Paul Hewson, said.
"At the same time, he still has a very beautiful face.
"The wrinkles that run through it now have made it even more beautiful. Why? Because he wears those wrinkles well. I love his wrinkles."
He continued: "What I like about him as a person is that he always speaks his mind openly and he never talks much about himself. He is not a narcissistic person."
The 'Beautiful Day' singer also commended Jagger for his pioneering business prowess. Although U2 surpassed The Rolling Stones to claim the highest grossing concert tour of all time in 2011 with their 360 tour, Bono said he owes his skills to "Mick".
"People despise Mick because they think he only thinks about money, but he is a businessman above all else," he added.
