Ever since Christian Bale turned the air blue on the set of Terminator Salvation, directing a expletive-ridden rant at the film's director of photography, the world has known the actor is unafraid of speaking his mind.

Now, the 35-year-old has expressed his disgust at the movie's sound team for recording the clip of him venting his spleen and leaking it into the public domain. The film is released in the UK at the beginning of June.

The outburst, which saw Bale berating crew member Shane Hurlbut for causing him to lose his concentration during a scene, rapidly became a hit on the internet and sealed the British actor's reputation for having a short fuse.

In his first interview since the tirade three months ago, Bale admitted that he "went overboard" but accused the people who recorded and distributed the clip of betraying his "creative trust".

Speaking to the magazine Total Film,he added: "It's not in any way a trust that's there to cover up bad behaviour. It's not about that. It's an essential trust that's needed for creativity."

Bale added that he disapproved of the current fad of releasing as much information as possible about films in the form of DVD extras, as it revealed too much about how movies were made to outsiders.

Bale's mother and sister last year alleged he had assaulted them before the London premiere of his most recent Batman film, The Dark Knight. The charges were later dropped.
