Weather warning in place this morning, motorists urged to take care

Motorists have been urged to take care on the roads this morning as a status orange weather warning is in place across the country.

The warning is in place as there is widespread fog across the country which is dense in some places.

Gardaí are en route to the collision to in Virginia in Cavan this morning.

The weather is expected to improve after the fog lifts with bright spells and temperatures of up to 19 degrees.

Tuesday will still be mostly dry but becoming cloudy with outbreaks of rain breaking out in the west in the afternoon, the mercury will again reach between 16 and 19 degrees.

The outlook for the rest of the week however is mixed with heavy rain expected at times.

Flooding is predicted in places on Wednesday as conditions look set to be wet and windy.

Thursday and Friday also look to be mixed and the mixed weather will continue into the weekend.
