Sunshine days: Tomorrow will be the hottest day of 2012 with temperatures of 25C
IRELAND will be as warm as Barcelona, Bordeaux, Istanbul, Malta and Rome today as temperatures top 22C in most parts and the sunny spell sparks a weekend rush to beaches.
Tomorrow is set to be the warmest day of the year so far with temperatures reaching up to 25C in many parts.
A week before summer officially begins and following a spring washout, families are making the most of the good weather on beaches and in parks countrywide.
Met Eireann said that today would be a dry day in all areas with spells of sunshine Light southeast to east breezes will develop during the day and it will become rather warm in most places. Highest afternoon temperatures will range 19 to 23 degrees generally
But Friday will be glorious, particularly in the west, with sunny spells all day.
It’s not quite a heatwave, however the good weather is expected to last at least until early next week.
Bars and restaurants with outdoor terraces are enjoying a boom in trade and many venues had queues out the door last night. Hotels are hoping for increased weekend bookings are winter weary people opt for staycations.
It’s not such good news for Leaving and Junior Cert students however – they face a sweltering weekend on last minute cramming before the exams begin next Wednesday.
