What's an Irish music festival without a bit of rain?

The forecast is in and it's not good news. The rain is going to fall by the bucket-load on Saturday evening at Electric Picnic, so the rain jackets will definitely be required.

Thankfully we will have some reasonable weather before the rain.

Friday will be mostly dry, with temperatures ranging from 16 to 19c around most of the country.

Our problems begin on Saturday morning, when rain comes up from the South West. It will clear for a short time, before becoming heavy in the afternoon.

A Met Éireann spokesperson said: "It's going to be a wet weekend in most places around the country, with heavy rain rising through Munster and it will be at its worse in areas of Leinster.

"So Electric Picnic is definitely going to be a damp one with heavy rain throughout the evening."

Things will improve drastically on Sunday, with mostly dry weather and temperatures hitting 20c.

"It should be a beautiful day at the All-Ireland Hurling final. There will be sunny, bright spells throughout the day. Dublin should have a good day," the spokesperson added.
