Met Eireann have laughed at reports of a hurricane hitting Ireland this weekend.

People fear that Hurricane Gaston which originated on the Florida coast and is now hovering over the Atlantic will make an appearance in Ireland.

"By the time any tropical storm hits Ireland, the wind strength will be totally dissipated. There will be no hurricane in Ireland," said a Met Eireann spokesperson.

While the weekend will be unsettled with rain, there's no need to panic.

This week is typical back-to-school weather with a mini heatwave at the start of the week.

Temperatures on Tuesday are expected to reach up to 24 degrees but cooler temperatures will follow.
