Midsummer Irish style... and the forecast is for rain for next four days
Warning: You may not want to continue reading. The forecast for Ireland for the coming weekend looks like rain, more rain and even more rain.
The only light on the horizon is next Monday which looks likely to be bright, sunny and dry.
However, Met Eireann warned today that widespread heavy and thundery downpours will affect all areas today with spot flooding in places. It will be worst in the north and west and temperatures will be up to a maximum of 17C.
Tomorrow promises more rain in all places persisting again in the north and northeast in the afternoon, but looking more like showers elsewhere. Top temperatures 14C to 18C with a fresh and gusty west to northwest wind.
Saturday offers unsettled weather with prolonged rain at time and thundery in places, but temperatures should be higher – maybe even into the early 20s!
Heavy rain due in the south and south west of Munster is likely to sweep across the country on Saturday night, but it should clear quickly on Sunday followed by occasional showers.
Temperatures of up to 21C are expected on Monday but the sunny spells forecast for next Tuesday will be interspersed by heavy showers.
