Making weekend plans? The weather will be a mixed bag but there is some sunshine on the way

Today will be "fresh and dry" according to forecasters and there is some good news on the way for the weekend.

Friday will be dry with the mercury hitting 16 degrees. There will be some isolated showers but these will be mostly in the north of the country according to Met Eireann.

Tomorrow is set to dawn bright and dry but after a few early morning sunny spells rain will move across the country during the late afternoon and evening.

It will also be cooler with temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees.

On Sunday however it is set to be "fine and dry with spells of sunshine" thanks to developing high pressure.

According to the national forecasters Monday will also be dry but there will be more in the way of cloud.

On Tuesday it is expected that there will be Southwest more humid conditions with outbreaks of rain to the west and north.
