Should you be planning a weekend of movies and popcorn, or is this rain destined to stop?

Unfortunately, the rain will continue for the weekend and early next week leaving us only dreaming of beach days and back garden tanning.

Saturday will be wet especially in the north of the country with some thunder, while the south will have some sun.

Met Eireann said it will be warm and humid in most places with temperatures between 17 to 21 degrees.

Sunday will be rainy but humidity will ease as temperatures cool across the country.

Met Eireann predict the rain will continue into early next week with cooler breezes on Monday and Tuesday.

“This weekend will be very humid but early next week it will be fresher and less humid,” a forecaster told

“There will be some nice summer sunshine with passing showers,” they added about next week.

On Wednesday there might be some relief from the rain with some sunny spells and light breezes. Temperatures are expected to reach between 15 to 18 degrees.

From Thursday onwards the warm humid weather is expected to return with unsettled warm and rainy weather.

Is it too late to book a sun holiday?
