Brazil’s agency for indigenous peoples (Funai) completed a high-risk expedition to reunite an isolated tribe with their relatives in the jungle.
Brazil's biggest expedition to contact an isolated tribe in the Amazon has succeeded. The main goal was to avert a conflict between the Korubos and their neighbours the Matis, living 19km away.
Indigenous agency Funai organised the expedition, among them a doctor and Korubo relatives. Korubo tribe members were also vaccinated in the jungle.
