US Secret Service dog 'Hurricane' receives award for stopping White House intruder

A US Secret Service dog has received an award popularly known as the 'animal OBE' for his courage in stopping an intruder in the White House in 2014.

Hurricane, now aged 10, was on duty on October 22 2014 when an intruder attempted to gain access to the White House; the dog held the attacker down despite a savage attack. In recognition of his courage the dog today received an Order of Merit medal from animal charity PDSA - making him the first overseas recipient of the award.

Package includes interviews with PDSA Director General Jan McLoughlin and US Secret Service Deputy Chief of Uniformed Division, Richard Macauley.
