It may only be the beginning of November but Dublin city centre is already gearing up for another fun-filled christmas.

Today's launch of 'Dublin at Christmas' was a fake-snowy affair, where details of festive events for Christmas 2015 were announced.

Models Sarah Morrissey and Holly Carpenter were on hand to pose for photos with both Santa and a giant snow globe.

"Christmas in Dublin reminds me of coming into town with my Mother when I was younger to see all the lights and the decorations," Sarah said.

The Henry Street lights will be switched on by a surprise guest on November 12.

On every Saturday in December a free Christmas family event will be held on Grafton Street and Henry Street, including face painting, elves, the giant snow globe and Santa's Letter Postbox.

Lord Mayor Críona Ní Dhalaigh said it is hoped that shoppers will come to Dublin city centre and enjoy a special shopping experience.

"I would encourage families to come and experience the unique atmosphere that Dublin city has to offer," she said.

Saturday November 15 will see the iconic Grafton Street lights turned on, while O'Connell Street's Christmas lights will be switched on by the Lord Mayor on November 29.

A free open-air concert is scheduled to take place in Smithfield Plaza on November 26 at 8pm.

The ever-popular Live Animal Crib opens on December 8, and is celebrating its 21st year in its location outside the Mansion House.
