Swimmer climbs on rock to escape huge waves but finds himself in a life-threatening situation
When a group of friends set out to watch the spectacular sunrise over Turtle Bay on the Hawaiian island of Maui, they didn't expect to witness a life-threatening situation.
Evan Peregoy (21) and his friends saw how a swimmer had been surprised by the high waves when the tide came in. He tried to get to safety on a rock in the sea, but it was the wrong choice. “Jump in the water!” said Evan when he saw a huge wave coming towards the swimmer. The man struggled against the surf for another half hour but eventually managed to reach dry land.
