New Zealand minister encourages public to 'spread their legs' in press conference blunder

New Zealand’s Covid minister spoke about getting outside and 'spreading legs' instead of stretching legs.

New Zealand’s Covid minister Chris Hipkins provided some comic relief at a press conference, by accidentally using the phrase "spread legs" instead of "stretch legs".

“It is a challenge for people in high density areas to get outside and spread their legs when they are surrounded by other people,” he said while New Zealand's director general of health tried not to laugh.

The minister later addressed the blunder, saying: "I should go and stretch my legs; I'm sure you'll all have fun with me later."
