New Zealand ad promoting open conversations about porn goes viral

An ad promoting honest and open conversations around porn and consent has been viewed over three million times.

Keep it Real Online is a campaign by The New Zealand Government, helping children develop online safety skills.

A campaign ad playing out a sequence in which porn stars turn up at teen's house naked, telling his mother that her son just looked them up online, has been shared widely on social media. The actors warn the shocked mother that the boy may be unaware of the differences between sex in porn and sex in real life.

"We don't even talk about consent, we just get straight to it," the female porn actor says.

The campaign says that children can easily see pornography, either intentionally out of curiosity, and the best way to support them is to have open, honest conversations about what they might see and how it’s different from real sex and relationships.
