Three in ten asthma sufferers in Ireland are increasing their risk of dying from the disease because of excessive use of reliever inhalers as a quick fix to help them breathe.

New research released today shows thousands of people with asthma in this country are resorting to their reliever inhalers more than twelve times a year putting themselves in higher danger of a life-threatening attack.The findings from the Asthma Society of Ireland also reveal seven in ten people with the disease use the reliever inhalers more than three times a year which can cause an escalation in symptoms.
