Massive iceberg (1270km²) breaks off Antarctica

An iceberg 1270km² in size has broken off Antarctica.

Scientists at British Antarctic Survey (BAS) first detected cracks in the ice almost 10 years ago.

The 150m-thick ice shelf is the location of a research station, but glaciologists say that the station is unlikely to be affected by the current calving.
