VIDEO: Boris Johnson - We must lose the backstop to make a Brexit deal
Prime Minister Boris Johnson tells his German counterpart Angela Merkel and assembled members of the press that the Irish backstop arrangements must be dropped from any proposed Brexit deal with the European Union. Mr Johnson was in Berlin in order to broker a deal before the UK departure date of October 31, which he insisted he preferred to the alternative of pulling out of the union with no deal in pace.
