Local Councillor speaks about Enniskerry GAA fall incident

Nine people were injured after falling from the trailer of a lorry in Co Wicklow on Saturday night as they celebrated a GAA victory. Gardaí said nine people were brought to hospitals in Dublin and treated for non-life threatening injuries. Some of the young people were sent home last night, while others remain in hospital today to undergo operations and observations today. The incident happened shortly before 7pm, when players from the Enniskerry club were on the back of a lorry celebrating a win over Avoca in the Junior B championship. A number of players fell after a metal bar appeared to give way at the back of the truck shortly after pulling off in the village. The emergency services rushed to the scene and injured players and club members were treated by paramedics on site. Injured men were brought to Tallaght and St Vincent’s hospitals for treatment.
