High tide causes flooding on Donegal golf course

High tides causes flood on Donegal golf course

A video clip shared on social media shows winds and a high tide causing flooding on the second hole of Portsalon Golf Club in Donegal.

"We have lost somewhere between 80 and 100 yards of a sand dune system over the last number of years," Course Manager of Portsalon Gold Club told Independent.ie.

"Over the last number of years and since that our 2nd hole floods whenever we get high tides.

"Coastal erosion is a huge problem for us and we can't seem to get any help from the powers that be which is disappointing.

"When we lost the dune system that fairway is now open to all the elements thrown at us, especially with winds from the North and East."
