Extinction Rebellion stage protest at CCJ as climate activist appears in court

Extinction Rebellion held a demonstration at the Criminal Court of Justice to show support for 20-year-old Orla Murphy, a climate activist brought before the court in a criminal damage case.

Orla Murphy is pleading not guilty to criminal damage under Section 2 of the Criminal Damage Act 1991 in the Court of Criminal Justice in Dublin for a Climate Change protest that took place in December of 2020.

Orla, who was a teen at the time of the protest, spray painted “It’s all for show” on the UN’s sustainable development goals displayed on the Department of Agriculture on Kildare Street, Dublin 2.

Although they admitted to spray painting "It’s All For Show" onto the window of the Department of Agriculture on the 4th of December 2020, they contested the charge on the grounds that they had a lawful excuse to do so.
