ARCHIVE VIDEO: Broadcaster Mark Cagney on grief, drugs and good friend Gerry Ryan

Donal Corkery

The pioneer of Irish breakfast TV, Mark Cagney, has been on the couch at TV3's 'Ireland AM' for 15 years. In his most honest and revealing interview ever, he tells Barry Egan about being an 'unhappy child' in Cork, the death of his first wife, Ann, and the all-enveloping despair that followed. He also talks about how his second wife, Audrey Byrne, was his saviour, and his brief flirtation with cocaine in the early days of 2fm.
