ARCHIVE: Steven Mannion: Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man

The purpose of art, Pablo Picasso once said, is washing the dust of daily life off our souls. Whatever about dust on our souls, Steven Mannion is cleaning the sand off Bess, Rosie and Lilly after walking along Sandymount Strand. This is the acclaimed Irish artist's daily stroll with his three dogs. Steven, who lives in Sandymount with his husband Eamon Farrell, says that "we named Bess after Queen Bess, Queen Elizabeth. It suited her very much."
