Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is renowned for keeping his eye on the ball. So when he shifts his focus to property, it's time to sit up and take notice.

Speaking about his recent investment in the new Palacio da Quinta Resort and Spa development on Portugal's Algarve, Mourinho described the project as "absolutely fantastic".

"My job is risky," he quipped, "I don't take risks with my investments."

When complete, The Palacio da Quinta Resort and Spa in Quinta do Lago will raise Algarve living to a new level of opulence. The Conrad Palacio Hotel will comprise 158 guest suites, but the real deals here are the luxury condominiums integrated within the resort.

Owners will enjoy all the benefits of six-star status: world class restaurants and bars, designer shops, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, spa, private jet and yacht charter, 24-hour concierge and limo service, preferred tee times and discounts on green fees at some of Europe's finest golf courses.

Apartments feature Italian marble flooring, designer kitchens and bathrooms, home entertainment and central vacuum systems, air conditioning, underfloor heating and indoor electric shuttering.

Each apartment has its own terrace, jacuzzi and two underground car-parking spaces.

And there's always the chance of bumping into the smouldering Jose himself. Ooh matron.
