To Cavan: fast, safe and in luxury
On Monday my daughter and I hightailed it north to see my old friend Evelyn in deepest Cavan near the banks of Lough Sheelin. It was only by coincidence that we were driving an impressive Mercedes, as Evelyn is the sister-in law to one of the country’s biggest Merc dealers. Not that she drives one herself, preferring a VW Tiguan, but her heart is really with a 1999 Subaru Forester, of which I have written before, that lies looking a bit sorry for itself next to the garage. It was the pride and joy of her husband and my great friend Jim Rowe who, hard to believe, has now been dead 19 years.
