Opinion Spy stories: the best and worst of the Bonds
How would Ian Fleming feel about all this talk of a female 007? Not too pleased, in all probability, for the writer and erstwhile naval intelligence officer had rather, shall we say, old fashioned views when it came to women. His most famous creation, James Bond, was a kind of assess-all-areas alter ego who slept with every attractive woman he came across but otherwise treated them dismissively, and had at best a slender grasp of the concept of consent.
