Revealed: Wedding venue of the year announced at top industry event

Dublin venues Clontarf Castle and Andrew Rudd's Medley restaurant were also declared big winners on the night

The country's leading wedding venues and suppliers were celebrated at one of the industry's top events last night, where the overall wedding venue and supplier of the year, as chosen by couples, were finally revealed.

Cork hotel Castlemartyr Resort scooped the top prize of 'wedding venue of the year' at the annual weddingsonline awards last night.

The five star resort, which was declared the best wedding venue in Munster, was up against a number of top venues from around the country.

The resort managed to win out over the likes of the Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa in Sligo - which was named best wedding venue in Connaught - and Donegal's Silver Tassie Hotel & Spa, which won top prize of ulster hotel wedding venue.

The castle venue of the year was awarded to Clontarf Castle in Dublin, while the waterside Venue of the Year went to the Garryvoe Hotel. The top prize for restaurant wedding venue went to Medley, the new, ultra cool Dublin eatery from chef Andy Rudd.

Imelda Scally at The Landmark Hotel, Leitrim was named the venue co-ordinator of the year, while Rathsallagh Country House in Wicklow took home the prize for exclusive venue of the year.

Other big winners on the night included Couple Photography, who was named the overall supplier of the year, Panic Animal, who were named wedding band of the year and Andy James who won entertainer of the year.
