Surprise! Roman Abramovich wed Russian art collector in secret six years ago

Roman Abramovich, the owner of Chelsea Football Club, secretly married his third wife around six years ago, it has emerged.

The Russian billionaire, 48, met art collector Dasha Zhukova at a New Year’s Eve party in 2005 but she has always been referred to as his girlfriend.

However, in a magazine interview, Miss Zhukova revealed the couple in fact tied the knot during a secret ceremony in around 2008.

The profile in the Wall Street Journal magazine referred to the pair who "met in 2005 and were married a few years later; they have two children."

The fleeting mention is understood to have been approved by Miss Zhukova, but she was unwilling to elaborate on their marriage.

She and Mr Abramovich have two children - Aaron Alexander, born in December 2009 and Leah Lou, born in April 2013.

Mr Abramovich, who is notoriously publicity shy, has already walked down the aisle twice. He married his first wife, Olga Yurevna Lysova, in December 1987 but was divorced by 1990 just three years later. His second marriage in 1991 to Irina Vyacheslavovna Malandina lasted 16 years.

He is said to have met Miss Zhukova at a New Year's Eve party hosted by her father.

Last year she was pictured sitting on a chair designed to resemble a half-naked black woman.

She later apologised, saying: "I utterly abhor racism, and would like to apologise to anyone who has been offended by this image."
