Shameless star Emmy Rossum ties the knot with Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail
American actress weds director Sam Esmail in an intimate ceremony in NYC.
Phantom of the Opera and Shameless star Emmy Rossum married creator of hit crime-thriller series Mr. Robot Sam Esmail at the East 55th Street Conservative Synagogue in front of family and friends on Saturday, according to People.
And although the was reportedly an intimate affair, the guest list was said to have some 'big' names on it, including Robert Downey Jr., William H. Macy, Christian Slater and Hilary Swank, among others.
Emmy, 30, and Sam, 39, who worked together on the 2014 film Comet, got engaged in August 2015 after two years of dating.
The engagement ring, a classic round-cut Art Deco diamond and platinum ring was purchased from jeweler Neil Lane’s archival collection of historical rings.
“I like that it’s old and I like to imagine who wore it before me and the life that they had,” the bride told People. “I don’t know the story behind it, but it’s from 1920 in Paris, so I like that I’ve inherited someone’s story, and I hope that it’s a good one.”
The actress also revealed at New York Fashion Week earlier this year that she had turned to designer Carolina Herrera to create her wedding dress, and admitted she was taking a laid-back approach to planning her big day.
"We haven't done any (fittings)," she told E! at the time, insisting she had complete faith in Herrera's designs. "She's got it. There's no rush. She can turn it around in a day. I'm not concerned."
And, unlike many brides, Emmy confessed she wasn't too concerned with the finite details of her wedding celebrations.
"I don't really care what the dress looks like," she said. "I don't really care what the plates look like. I don't really care what the invitation looks like. The only thing that's really important to me is that we get married and there's some kind of party.
According to reports the bride wore simple off-the-shoulder white gown, which featured pleated detailing at the bust and a patterned waistline. She wore her brown hair swept back in an elegant bun and sported a long white veil.
"Weirdly, I feel like so many times in my life are about dressing up for a film premiere or a fashion show so this is the one time in my life where I'm actually not that focused on details."
It's Emmy's second marriage - she was previously wed to music executive Justin Siegel from 2008 to 2010, and she also dated Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz.
