Mayo GAA star Tom Parsons has tied the knot with his long term girlfriend Carol.
The 29-year-old midfielder exchanged vows with beautiful Dubliner Carol last weekend.
His club, Charlestown, wished the newlyweds well on Twitter; "Shout out to Club & Mayo stalwart @TomParsons_8 & his beautiful wife Carol on this their wedding day. Best wishes from all in the club."
Tom and Carol came home to Ireland from the UK three years ago when Tom returned to play for his county and transferred to the Dublin office of his employers' Jacobs Engineering.
“I had to convince her to leave and change her job and give up her job in the UK and follow me back to Ireland to pursue my dream so there was a lot on the cards and maybe a risk to take at that stage when both of us, myself and my partner, had a career and life set up in the UK to come back and play for Mayo," he told Irish press in September."
He added that Carol has been hugely understanding about his need to travel to and from Mayo for training so regularly.
“It’s hugely, hugely difficult on Carol and in fairness she has massive patience and massive support and I think at this level, GAA players, with the professional environment, do need a really strong support network around them.
“I can tell you that if their partners aren’t invested in it, then it ain’t going to work. I’m blessed that Carol is invested in it and has the patience of a saint and supports me with all this time travelling and training and games and so forth. Let me tell you this season has been a real test of character.”
The 12th Duke of Beaufort has it all: a fortune estimated at £315 million; a 52,000-acre estate that includes ownership of palatial Badminton House; and even his own rock band. (He describes himself as a rock god). Now there’ll be two duchesses to boot.
