David Emanuel’s “ultimate buzz” was seeing Princess Diana emerge at St Paul’s Cathedral in the wedding dress he co-designed.

The notable designer started his own label with his wife Elizabeth in the ‘70s, and became a household name after the pair was selected to create the late Diana’s fairytale wedding gown for her wedding to Britain’s Prince Charles in 1981.

“The highlight was being asked in the first place – and then finding out years later every designer in the world had sent designs and portfolios to Buckingham Palace,” he beamed to Britain’s Metro newspaper.

“I had no idea. We just got a call asking us to design her wedding gown. She was full of fun and had a great sense of humour. The ultimate buzz was when she got out at St Paul’s and 700 million people saw her in her dress.”

David explains there was “no pomp and ceremony” during her fittings, with just David, Elizabeth and Diana knowing the final result, before unveiling it to the world.

David has continued to keep his profile up with stints on TV shows like reality series I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! and his new appointment as host on the U.K. version of Say Yes to the Dress, where he helps soon-to-be brides find their perfect wedding dress.

Having already landed one dream job during his career, 63-year-old David admits he’d also love to design Pippa Middleton’s wedding gown. The younger sister of Britain’s Duchess of Cambridge announced her engagement to hedge fund manager James Matthews in July .

David faces some stiff competition though as Victoria Beckham has also reportedly offered to make her dress.

“Pippa is not a royal, so let’s be soft and pretty and elegant, but divine. Red carpet, not Hollywood, not royal but red carpet,” David shared during an appearance on British TV show Lorraine.

“Pippa’s a great girl, she looks fabulous and it would be a dream job to do. (I haven’t had the call) as yet!”
