Cameron Diaz “waited as she didn’t want to settle” when it came to marrying.
The Sex Tape actress tied the knot with Good Charlotte musician Benji Madden on Monday evening.
And now reports have emerged that the 42-year-old delivered a touching speech to her new spouse and explained why he was ‘The One’ in front of family and friends at the reception.
“I waited because I didn't want to settle,” the blonde beauty said with a big smile, according to the MailOnline website. “Now I got the best man ever. My special man. He's mine.”
The star began dating the 35-year-old early last year and while the couple never confirmed their engagement, they couldn’t keep the news of their nuptials a secret.
Cameron wasn’t the only one to speak in front of the star-studded congregation. Benji also garnered some laughs when it was his turn to acknowledge their special day.
“I only asked to be in control of two things: The music and the cake,” he said.
The wedding party included his twin brother Joel, with his five-year-old son Sparrow acting as ring bearer. Joel’s wife Nicole Richie was a bridesmaid alongside Cameron’s close friend and Charlie’s Angels co-star Drew Barrymore.
Guests included Reese Witherspoon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Toni Collette, Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann, while Lionel Richie and Ryan Adams performed at the reception.
Not everything went to plan however, with a number of blunders alleged to have taken place during the evening.
When the lights flickered and went out for ten seconds before her big bridal entrance, Cameron could be heard cursing: 'S**t, f***, this is f***ed up. You've got to be f***ing kidding me!'
She also reportedly struggled to switch dresses after the ceremony could be heard pleading with Pussycat Dolls' founder Robin Antin and another friend to help her into her short-sleeved reception gown.
