These are the top trending wedding dresses in the world right now

Seven dresses currently being swooned over around the globe this summer

Karen Birney,

If there's anything to be taken from the recent frenzy surrounding the British royal wedding it's that people as a whole are fascinated by wedding dresses.

Okay, perhaps not 'fascinated', but certainly 'intrigued' to say the least. In fact, we're nearly sure that as soon as the now Duchess of Sussex emerged from her car and people - female and male might we add - caught a glimpse of her gúna, a large proportion were straight over to the next channel to see if the football had started yet.

People want to see the dress. And not just Meghan's dress. 'The' dress. The one the bride's wearing. What bride? Any bride. Tell us now... did she wear white? Was it lacey? Oh she went strapless? I didn't think she'd go for strapless.

It's not to judge (most of the time anyway). It's to celebrate. And it's often also to see what direction were all going in when it comes to formal fashion.

So, to the most popular wedding dress in the world right now - according to Yahoo's recent Pinterest audit at least.

Where the Israeli designers were gaining in popularity for their risqué necklines, sheer bodices, plunging backs and impossibly long and detailed trains, the more subtle Australian designers are now being looked to with some softer, lighter and easier-to-wear styles featuring long sleeves and pretty, full skirts.

"A fitted bodice with a full skirt looks to be the winning style this season, with lace and mesh fabrics also proving popular," say the folks in Yahoo, who have studied the stats on Pinterest to find out what styles brides are currently saving to their online scrapbooks.

Aussie designer with a penchant for all thing embellished Anna Campbell has made the list, and while you would usually see more of her intricate stone and crystal designs on a 'most popular' countdown, it's her more subdued lace and embroidered 'Savannah' that brides-to-be (and, if we're all completely honest with ourselves, non brides-to-be) are Pinning on their #weddinginspo boards this summer.

Another popular choice is fellow Aussie and designer behind the 'world's most pinned' bridal gúna back in 2016 Grace Loves Lace, whose dreamy destination dresses are swooned over for their light lace trims, airy fabrics and cool, effortless, by-the-beach feel each of the romantic styles evoke.

One we're tipping to look out for is British bespoke designer Emma Beaumount, whose popularity over the past five years has grown with the aid of real bride photos on social media sites like Pinterest and Instagram.

Emma is based out of her studio in Chershire, England, and also holds consultations in London.
