Ana Steele's long sleeved lace gown is teaser trailer highlight
When it comes to weddings, many of us can't help but be inspired by what we see in the movies.
And especially for the dress, from Audrey Hepburn's Jo Stockton in Funny Face to Julia Roberts' Maggie Carpenter in Runaway Bride, to SJP's Carrie in SATC, many brides have taken a cue from some of the most iconic gowns worn by on-screen brides in helping them to create their wedding look.
So when the first trailer for the latest movie in the Fifty Shades franchise dropped, it was perhaps not a surprise that fans were falling over themselves for the new Mrs Grey's wedding gown.
The teaser for Fifty Shades Freed opens on a wedding gown hanging from a huge sparkling chandelier, followed by a shot of the dress being fastened from the back (an illusion hook-and-eye button fastener, which would make the garment all the easier to get in an out of).
Wow. Even the wedding dress is copied from Twilight. Still can't wait to watch it! #FiftyShadesFreed— Kritika Bansal (@kritikasocritic) September 10, 2017
A pan of the gown then shows it in all its gorgeous glory; the fitted, off-the-shoulder silhouette complemented by a long lace-trimmed veil which Steele (played by Dakota Johnson) wears with her hair in a high bun.
The costumes in the series have piqued the attention of fans before, with Steele wearing a silk Monique Lhuillier grey gown with long hand-sewn feather capelet for the 'Darker' episode.
Some fans have commented that the gown is not dissimilar from the one worn by Bella Swan in the Twilight series - a long sleeved silk Caroline Herrera gown that was all about the illusion, buttoned-up back.
The style is certainly on-trend for bridal, with many design houses opting to include an off-the-shoulder style in their collections and more featuring delicate long lace sleeves throughout their offerings.
Full length lace sleeves have been in vogue again in a major way since Kate Middleton donned the look for her wedding back in 2011 and seem to be going nowhere soon.
TIP! If you like the look (whatever about the books or movies) but are struggling to find something the same style for your big day, consider instead opting for a simple gown and adding a long lace off-the-shouder separate as an extra layer.
While Pinterest boards and Insta feeds are falling over themselves for the illusion backs, plunging necklines and skintight fabrics of some of the latest, more daring designs in bridal, the crisp, understated tailoring of French designer Laure de Sagazan has been quietly gathering a stylish following of its own.
He's known for being one of the cooler, calmer, more collected players in Hollywood, but George Clooney has revealed that even he gets the jitters when it comes to love.
