After Jenny Dixon married politician Tom Neville last month, another Fair City star is tying the knot.

George McMahon, who plays Mondo in the RTE soap opera, will marry his long-term partner, dancer and choreographer Rachel Smyth, in a high-profile wedding in Nerja this week. Guests will include Irish pop grandees, with Keith Duffy chief among them.

The Boyzone star, who is a close friend of the bride and groom, will act as celebrant for the wedding.

The couple's first child, daughter Frankie, was born at the Rotunda Hospital in May 2018.

"We had spoken about the type of wedding we'd like long before we even got engaged," McMahon told the Sunday Independent from Spain.

"When I finally plucked up the courage to pop the question, I simply booked a table on the rooftop bar of the Marker Hotel in Dublin last year.

"I had a few Old Fashioned cocktails to settle the nerves and I got down on one knee. I asked her to be my wife, she cried - which is rare - and she said yes.

"Rachel is a beautiful, hardworking, honest, funny and loyal human being. She's an amazing mother and has a wicked sense of humour.

"What I love most about her is that she has the ability to tell a story and capture the attention of the whole room.

"Just being in her company makes me happy. We have a great laugh together and I've honestly never known happiness like it," said George.
