Style: Milliners in bloom as new talents emerge
Ireland's international reputation for millinery is richly deserved and a new clutch of hat designers coming through yesterday displayed their creativity and verve.
The Council of Irish Fashion Designers, which counts seven milliners in its ranks, showed spring-summer confections where blooms got quite the going over.
Deb Fanning of DFM used a rainbow colour palette with silk flowers, birdcage veiling and embellishments to create rich fresh bouquets where a sense of 'hippie deluxe' pervades the collection.
Michelle Kearns Designs, from Tuam, showed a luxurious 'Delicate Punch' theme using leathers, suedes and tulles in sculpted shapes to reflect "a fierce femininity".
