BARACK and Michelle Obama have released a video recalling their first date in 1989 to promote a competition to win dinner with the president.
Mr Obama recalls how his first date with his future wife was lunch at the Art Institute of Chicago.
The pair then went for a leisurely stroll, before ending the date with a trip to a cinema to watch the Spike Lee film Do The Right Thing.
"It was a cool date, we spent the whole day together, he was showing me all facets of his character. We went to the Art Institute," Mrs Obama recalls.
Mr Obama then points at the camera and says: "Art - guys out there, it impresses people."
The couple then "took a nice long walk down Michigan Avenue," according to the first lady. Mr Obama, again addressing male viewers, adds with a smile: "Romantic."
"He showed all the sides - he was hip, cutting edge, cultural, sensitive," Mrs Obama remembers.
Mr Obama adds: "Take tips gentlemen."
The couple went on the marry in 1992.
