Sponsored Feature: First Date Ideas

Knowing what to do on a first date can sometimes be the hardest part about meeting someone for the first time.

However, here at The Meeting Point we believe that first dates are all about having fun - doing something that you enjoy at the same time as getting to know someone new. So we’ve put together a few ideas, from the classic to the quirky, to make deciding on what to do that much easier.

Grab lunch: Everyone likes to take a break for lunch, so why not make the most of it and use it as an opportunity to grab a quick bite to eat with your date. The best thing about a lunch date is that you’re in a relaxed environment so there’s no pressure. Best yet, if the chemistry isn’t there then you’ve got the perfect excuse to leave.

Skip straight to dessert? There’s always room for pudding so why not skip the starter and mains altogether and go out for dessert. It’s a quirky alternative to going for a sit down meal and it’s fun too. What’s more, you don’t have to worry about filling a whole meal with conversation as it’s just one course. However, if you do hit it off you can always stick around for a coffee.

Try something new:How about trying something new like a tasting or making class? You’ll find plenty of events like these around most city centres and they are a great way to try something new, at the same time as getting to know your date. Wine tasting courses are great fun and with all that sipping on Merlot and Shiraz, you’ll have a great excuse to relax and get a little merry.

Culture vulture: How about visiting a museum, going to the theatre, strolling round a market or going to a comedy club. Exploring, learning and discovering new things together will not only help the conversation flow by giving you things to talk about, but it will also help you to form a bond over common interests. Doing something you enjoy takes the stress out of dating and immediately puts you at ease; great for letting your guard down and being yourself around one another.

Be a thrill seeker:How about spending the day at a theme park riding the rollercoasters and embracing your sense of adventure. A theme park is a great way to make you feel like a kid again and really lose your inhibitions. You could even grab a photo on the log flume as a memento of your day together.

Whatever you decide to do on your first date make sure it’s something that you both enjoy doing and the date is all about having fun together!
