Ali repeats her love prescription

TWO months is clearly a long time in the world of Irish models. In May, Ali McDonnell told this column she had broken off her engagement to Dr Mark Dempsey for good (they have an eight-month-old baby, Harry).

"I am broken-hearted over the whole thing but it is best for both of us. I am going to devote myself to Harry and my other two children," Ali told me, referring to Alex, 7, and Sara, 5.

However, my model moles tell me that Ali is now very much back in the arms of her doctor ex-fiance. I am happy to say that the two have reconciled their differences. I am even happier to tell you that Ali and Mark are busy planning their nuptials.

She and Mark, who got engaged in April 2009 in Florence, are getting married on New Year's Eve in Faithlegg House Hotel in Waterford. A source at her model agency confirmed the rumour du jour that a wedding between the on-off lovebirds is on the cards for late 2010.

Meanwhile, that symbol of fluctuating love, Calum Best flew into Belfast on Friday to attend the opening night of the musical about his late father George, Dancing Shoes, in the Opera House. Lothario Calum (who has dated Bianca Gascoigne, Kimberly Stewart, Lindsey Lohan and Girls Aloud's Sarah Harding) stayed in the penthouse of the chic Fitzwilliam Hotel Belfast. He was seen having dinner with his mum Angie in Menu by Kevin Thornton -- the hotel's award-winning restaurant.

I hope she was giving him some much-needed advice on his love life.
